FAQs
What is your scope of practice?
We provide primary medical and vision care. We see patients for many reasons, including diabetes, hypertension, infections, and minor injuries. We have a full range of equipment found in any primary care office and full laboratory services provided through our partnership with Labcorp.
Who are your patients?
We serve uninsured and underinsured community members whose household income is less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.
You say you are a Christian clinic. What does that mean?
We want to share the love of Christ in word and deed, using the skills He has given us to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of our patients. This looks different for each person, but it often means a brief prayer is offered to patients at their appointment. We also have a moment of prayer for staff and volunteers before the clinic begins. We see patients of any faith background, but we seek to share the love of Christ with everyone who visits our clinic.
Where are you located?
Our clinic is located near the intersection of University Drive and Chapel Hill Road, with proximity to a bus line and to Colonial Townhouse Apartments. We offer medical and vision appointments at this location.
When are you open?
Our main medical clinic is open 35 hours/week, Monday-Friday (find our complete schedule here). The vision clinic schedules vary according to staff and volunteer availability.
What kind of volunteers do you need?
We consistently need physicians, optometrists, nurses, and interpreters (especially in Spanish). Please note that we require Board certification, or a resident training license, for our volunteer providers.
What kind of commitment do you expect of your volunteers?
We ask that volunteers are able to commit to one shift a month, or quarterly for specialists. Please be understanding that we have many interested volunteers, and that 1 shift per month is the average.
Do you utilize an electronic medical record (EMR)?
Yes, we use Epic. If your volunteer role involves Epic access, there will be additional training required.
Is this a safe and clean volunteering environment?
Absolutely! Our clinic spaces are modern, clean, and a pleasure to use. Our patients are some of the most grateful patients you'll ever encounter. Our volunteers consistently report that they had a very positive experience.
